Not necessarily. Many people equate keeping their weight under control with being physically fit, but this isn’t always true. Although extra weight in the belly can put additional stress on the lower back, it is actually more of a problem with the core that keeps a person from being “fit." The “core,” which is composed of the abdominal muscles, the paraspinal muscles of the low back, and the pelvic stabilizers, may be weak in people who look good on the outside, but are in trouble inside.
