"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and the prevention of disease."

Here are a couple tips to help you and your kids with a couple of common maladies this summer.

Playing ball outside and your child falls and scrapes his or her knee? Instead of reaching for the antiseptic spray that stings and is filled with harsh chemicals, try CALENDULA. This gentle and soothing herb is very effective on burns and scrapes. Various creams, gels, and ointments containing Calendula are usually available and can be directly applied to the injured area.

Sizzled by the sun? ALOE VERA can be very soothing when placed on most sun burns and helps to heal the skin condition more quickly. You can express the juice from the plant yourself, or you can buy a gel containing it. Just remember, the higher up on the ingredient list, the more Aloe Vera the product contains.

Going camping this summer? Don’t forget to take along TEA TREE OIL for mosquito bites. This externally applied oil can help decrease the itching and irritation caused by most bug bites.

Your local health food store will likely have these and other items in stock. There’s a Fruitful Yield natural food store right down the street from us on the intersection of Caton Farm and Essington. Tell them I sent you!

Have a great, healthy summer.
