Herbs vs. Homeopathy

There's a lot of talk going on about whether to take the flu shot because of the "Swine Flu" scare. There may be a better way to build your immune system. An excellent diet is an extremely important foundation, but, in addition, have you considered herbs or homeopathy? Is one better than the other for building the immune system?

Actually either can be of benefit, and there isn't necessarily one better choice than another. It all depends on what your body needs and how it will react to it.

Herbs have been around for hundreds of years. Native Americans used them as the primary source of healing illness and wounds. In our Western culture, however, the use of medicines far surpasses that of herbs. Since people want quick relief, the time it takes for herbs to work usually isn't allowed, yet, many European countries still use them preferentially to drugs. Although most herbs are safe, they can have medicinal-like effects, therefore they should be used carefully, particularly if one is already taking prescription medications.

While herbs are plants, homeopathics are derived from plant, mineral, and animal substances. They can be used as a combination of many different substances within a single remedy, and there are no known contraindications to their use (reasons not to use them). They should not negatively interact with prescription drugs.

As with all supplements, it is best to have a physician trained in the use of these substances to oversee their use and detect potential intolerances. We can provide an analysis to determine if herbs and/or homeopathy may be right for you.
