Scoliosis: Natural Treatment vs. Surgery

Some cases of scoliosis require surgery to implant rods into the spine to force a straightening of the abnormal curvatures. Fortunately this is not common. It is important to detect scoliosis early enough in a child’s development AND BEGIN TREATMENT to help arrest this process. Oftentimes a patient is prescribed “therapy” by their doctor, which means physical therapy. Although this can be helpful, it is usually not enough, because stretching and exercises are only part of the equation.

In scoliosis, the vertebrae (spinal bones) are out of alignment and the joints need to move better because they are “locked up.” Spinal manipulation, which is only provided by a chiropractor, is necessary for treatment of scoliosis cases. If this key treatment modality is not provided, the patient will not respond as well.

The first phase of correction of misalignments of the spine is via spinal manipulation. The second phase is straightening of the weak and imbalanced muscles.

At ABC Wellness & Rehab, we provide spinal manipulations as well as on-site and supervised strengthening exercises, so the patient gets the maximum benefit.
